Tom Bontes

Let me introduce myself. My name is Tom Bontes, 19 years old, Law student and fencer (yes, just like Zorro but different). Thanks to JSB, I have the opportunity to practice my sport at the highest level.

Making Choices

Just a year ago it was decided to terminate financial aid to me. I fenced at that time in the Dutch Youghtselection and had to choose between to stop or continue. That choice was easy: Continue!

To continue, I had to weigh my options. I already had contact with three different Universities in the USA where I could follow a course based on a sports scholarship and at the same time continue exercising and training of fencing. This to me were 'nice' options, but it was not what I was looking for.

Until I came into contact with JSB. After one phonecall and a number of appointments we soon agreed on a sponsorship deal. I decided to let go of 'The American Dream' and go for 
certainty with JSB. Because of this I did not have to give up my place in the national team in the Netherlands and still felt comfortable.

Season 2013/2014

Last season, Thanks to JSB, I could compete well at the highest level. I was a sophomore junior (final-year), and managed to secure a place in the National Senior Equipe. With this team, we have achieved a ninth place at the European Championships in Strasbourg and I can mention for sure the highlight of last season.

Season 2014/2015

Meanwhile, this is the third training week. A vacation after a tough season does wonders. Next weekend I will be in Luxembourg in a Junior World Cup screens. This season is very tough, because I need to excellerate in the juniors while being groomed to be ready for 'the senior world'.

I hope to be successful this season with fencing using JSB. In addition, I wish JSB and its employees much business success!
